Samuael Topiary

Samuael Topiary is a Brooklyn based video artist, performer and writer. Her multi-character performance epic "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus" has received support from the MacDowell Colony, the Experimental Television Center, Radar Lab Writer's Retreat and DTW’s Media Arts Fellowship program and will have a 2-week run at the Abrons Arts Center’s Experimental Theater in November, 2010. Topiary's video works have screened in festivals internationally and throughout the US, including at Lincoln Center’s “NY Video Festival,” and The Walker Art Center. Her character Technopia was the host of the infamous Shtudio Show at Chez Bushwick from 2005-07. Other recent projects include creating music videos for the band Le Tigre. In the 1990‘s Topiary toured the US with the all-girl spoken word circus “Sister Spit’s Ramblin’ Road Show.” She received an MFA in Film/Video from Bard College in 2002 and currently teaches at the School for Visual Arts.
