Marissa Perel

Marissa Perel is a performer, writer and independent curator currently based in Chicago, IL. Her work functions within the realms of dance, performance art and installation, where movement and text-based processes engage with content that is both personal and political. Her most recent performance work in Chicago has been shown at the Chicago Cultural Center with artist Madeleine Bailey and at Links Hall with composer Chris Peck. In New York, she was a guest artist and curator of the 2008 Movement Research Festival: Somewhere Out There. Her work has also shown at the Chocolate Factory Theater with dancer Kayvon Pourazar and sound artist, Jon Moniaci. Perel holds a B.A. in Writing and Literature from Naropa University and an M.F.A from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
